One dead, twenty hurt. Attacker still pending.

The Blank

August 8, 2026 · Ibid.

Editorial cartoon: in an ADNOC press office at night, a wall screen shows the UAE foreign minister mid-briefing under a chyron reading PIRACY, while the company's chief executive holds up a draft press release facing the reader that reads 'UNPROVOKED BY' above a long empty ruled line, his finger resting on the blank; a headset-wearing young staffer clutches the ministry's printout, and a whiteboard behind them carries fifteen tally strokes, three freshly circled.

The UAE foreign ministry said Iran's Revolutionary Guard hit an ADNOC-owned tanker with a missile in the Strait of Hormuz, with no casualties. ADNOC says 15 of its vessels have been attacked by missiles and drones since the conflict began, three of them this week, killing one crew member and injuring 20; its own Friday statement called the attacks 'unprovoked' but named no one responsible. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan and the GCC secretary-general condemned the escalation and demanded the strait be reopened fully and unconditionally.
