Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said on a podcast episode that surfaced on Sunday that Israeli forces should "kill 30 or 40" people in Gaza every night, and said of Palestinians there: "There are people there who are not worthy of life... They're not even people." His guest, former captive Rom Braslavski, asked to personally carry out executions under Israel's new death penalty law — "I don't want a rope; I want a button on a gun" — and Ben-Gvir promised to "turn the world upside down" to arrange it. Ben-Gvir controls the police and prison services but has no authority to order strikes; Israel votes on 27 October.
